It's like POW

As much as I want to scream "fall is here", I'm definitely trying to soak up as much summer as I can. Weather in New Orleans is very unpredictable. One day it's cool and the next is HOT! Notice I did not say cold. We probably have about 3 days out of the year where it's "cold".

Now let's get to the post. This is a late one. I have not been in the mood lately, and besides my laptop broke in half, so I'm not doing good at all. So disrespectful....

This summer I spotted this trend everywhere, but mostly on everybody. At first I wanted to purchase the famous "boom" pencil skirt (HERE) and (HERE), or even the body con type (HERE), but then I thought to myself; "Brittany do you really want boom written all over your body"?. HA! Baby this is a little too much Ka-BOOM for the people.

So with that being said, I settled for this "Pow" draped tee.

Happy Monday

Who says you can't wear white after Labor Day? We've all heard it before. What I say to it? Chile boo, no rules over here.

I snagged this little white eyelet dress at the beginning of the summer on sale; And to think this is my second time wearing it.

I definitely plan on pairing this number with a pair of tights, boots and a leather jacket for fall/winter. It's so refreshing!

Headed to church, I decided top it off with a cardigan.

Dress/ Cardigan: Old Navy (sold out)
Shoes: Guess (old)

Phillip Lim for Target

I was not among the thousands of people waiting up until 3 am to purchase things online, nor did I stand in line waiting until Target opened their doors. Why?? Because I had to be at work for 6 am (insert blank face).

The time clock strike 2 pm and I zoomed to Target, only to find what I thought I would find... very little! I searched and searched throughout the stores and I saw a lady walking around with the "BOOM sweatshirt" and the animal print silky skater skirt. I have never in my life seen so many empty shelves. Like seriously? I didn't realize people in New Orleans were big on launches. LOL (weirdo)

Alright, enough rambling. Here's what I zoomed to Target for, but was unsuccessful.

Knit Animal Print Dress is to die for! Although it's still available online, I heard it runs big (fellow bloggers) and I definitely need to see how this looks on me.

Animal Print Tuxedo shirt- The lovely Krystin from suburban faux-pas styled this so elegantly.

Floral Print Peplum Tank- I absolutely LOVE this shirt. The material felt so good. Upset that it was on hold for someone...Grrr)

Black Sparkle Peplum Tank- This one too (insert angry face). Loving the glitter like detailing on the neckline.

Navy Sequin Dress- This dress is BOMB, although I did not like the price of $74.99 (I'm a bargain shopper). This would be a perfect dress for a homecoming dance.

Navy/ Black Faux Leather Dress- Did not see this on the website yesterday, so when I looked on line today, my mouth dropped. I'm currently loving the leather arms on everything, whether is faux or not. Definitely will be my statement piece for fall.

Love the color.

Khaki Trench Coat- Love it and the material although I'm not sure it's worth $79.99.

2nd item I must get!

When I do get a chance to get the items, I'll be sure to take photos!

Until next time, peace out

Love it...

Sometimes I have to remind myself....

We sometimes get so wrapped up in other people's happiness that we abandon our own.

How can you honestly love someone if you don't love yourself first?

It sounds so simple yet, my mind puzzles.

LIVE. LAUGH. LOVE

Football Sunday

Sooo yeah this post is super duper late, but hey, no rules here!

This past Sunday was the 1st game of the regular season for us New Orleanians. Our team (New Orleans Saints) played our rivalry team Atlanta Falcons.

Final score......**inserts drum role**

BOOM! Yes, yes we fried those birds.
Now I'm waiting on November! I absolutely enjoy going to my future home ATLANTA every year for the football game! We get to tailgate and have a mini vacation all in one. Lenox Mall, Atlantic Station...ooo-lala

Anyways, here's a couple of pictures I took with my lovely iPhone since I forgot my camera at home!

SN: I'm having MAJOR ISSUES with a photographer! NOONE. WANTS. TO. TAKE. MY. PICTURES **inserts side eye**

Change

"It is sad when you realize you are not as important to someone as they are to you"

Broken friendship. Being taken for granted. Being unappreciated. Hurt feelings. Being fed up, are all things that I know oh so well.

When I first started my blog, I informed you that I would NOT always talk about fashion. Fashion is not my thing, I don't consider myself "having it down pack". From time to time I will post pictures of my outfits (when I do go places), but for the most part, I want to encourage my readers.

My blog is like my journal, but NOT as raw. lol

For as I long as I can remember, I was THAT girl. The girl that always tried to make everything smooth.

I NEVER GAVE UP ON ANYONE!

There's times when friends, sisters, cousins, or even co-workers may have a fallen out and won't speak for weeks, but  always make sure you "do the work" (Iyanla Vanzant). When there was an issue, I always wanted to talk things out. How would you feel if someone felt someway towards you and never said anything?? The worst!

Well 2013 has shown me A LOT. In the month of January 2013, I asked God "to show me who's for and who's not. Remove anyone that does not belong in my life"......

I.Lost. SEVEN. "friends".

Healing starts when.......
you realize you are not as important to someone as they are to you

I am no longer THAT girl. I no longer care if I lose a "friend". I no longer "stay around" when the friendship are dead. I no longer accept foolishness. I no longer let you "use" me and don't speak up. I no longer work for free.

I have no problem with forgiving, but won't let you back in. Times have changed and it's for the better! Aye

Work, social life, family and relation----- can definitely make or break you. Only the strong survive and I always wonder, am I surviving?

Below are the things that I constantly remind myself.

- I WILL--> Listen to the heart
- I WILL have--> Self-Respect
- I Will recognize my--> Dignity
- I KNOW my--> Self-worth
- I AM my OWN -->TRUE FRIEND

Finding out who you are may be the best thing that has every happened to you!!

Peace Out,
Brittany

Anniversary of Hurricane Katrina

8 years ago today my Grammie and I were on our way to Woodville Mississippi with toothbrushes and the clothes on our back. I remember packing and my grams said "girl you don't need to pack all that, we'll be back home tomorrow". Tomorrow turned into nine WHOLE months.

Never in our minds did we think it was THAT BAD until CNN came across the television. The feeling is indescribable! We could not believe what was happening. We lost EVERYTHING including my great-grandmother in a blank of an eye. Some evacuated, some didn't.

See people from New Orleans don't know anything about traveling. Some had never left the city, let along the state of Louisiana. I think that's what made it so bad.

My mom was left stranded in the high waters to keep her job! **just thinking I could've lost my mom because she had to work, STILL burns me up to no end**

We couldn't come back home for months. I had just started my freshman year at my alma mater McDonogh 35. I was sooooo happy to enter high school.

I remember crying everyday in Woodville because I. Did. NOT. Want. To. Be. There!!!!!

I would travel there every summer to stay with grandma Bessie, but I knew at the end of July, I was headed back to the city. Y'all Woodville has NO RED LIGHTS! Yeah, enough said.

I got to know a lot of my family, and I met the first boy I ever kissed. Woodville was ok, but there's nothing like HOME!

New Orleans will NEVER be the same. We're still rebuilding (insert side eye).

I really appreciate Red Cross, FEMA, and all of the people that opened their homes and hearts up to us "refugees".

With love,
BrittanyGabriel

Stepping out....

My comfort zone that is!

Hey easies,

So I was taking a nap today when my good friend Connie texted me about heading to the mall. Now I had then wiped off my makeup, wrapped my hair with head scarf on.

Got up, took my hair down and slipped on a maxi dress! Here's me playing around in the mirror at Forever21

Now lets talk about the hype behind "stepping out of my comfort zone". I walked into Forever21 (haven't been here in months) and noticed they had a HUGE sale. This crop top caught my eye, as I've seen many bloggers rock this look oh so well. Can't believe I picked this up and tried it on....I think orange looks good on me!
It's was cuteeee (ghetto voice) but I left it! Couldn't see myself in the streetz.

You probably will NEVER see me in tights on a post. Never wear them.....soooooo steeping out my comfort zone right here. Geez I was shaking **insert sad face**

In conclusion, I made my way to TARGET!

$3.88

I KNOW I almost lost it too!

Until next time, peace out

Hey easies!

On yesterday mum, grammie and I went to a couple of spots. ERR'BODY had a sale! OMG...

First and second stop: TJMaxx/Marshall's

Those beautiful YELLOW tags state $5 and $10....four skirts for $30??? Lord have mercy!

Third stop: Red/White and Blue Thrift Store.

All I'm going to say is I (Brittany Gabriel Webster) spent WAY TOO MUCH at a "thrift store". I was not happy with the prices, but the items were meant to come home with me. Lol

Just looking at the receipt makes my blood boil. New Orleans needs to get it together. How you charge $8 for a jacket that was GIVEN to y'all for free?? **evil face**

BUT.....they are so darn cute and did I mention they were BRAND NEW?? Old navy tags still on **does a happy dance**
$7.95 each

That bow had me at hello!
$4.95

Brand new Oxfords

LOVE this skirt! Pockets in the back, spilt in the front, oh and it's high wasted!

Turban Thursday

I LOVE turbans! If I could wear a cute scarf situation on my head everyday, I would. Great for those summer days when your hair gets frizzy or those cold nights in the winter!

Check out how I styled my scarfs this summer......

So my style.

A little bit about me...My journey to/ of blogging Part I

So if you've been following my blog since I started about a month ago (July 7), you would know that I'm no "fashionista". I have a "weird style" (so I have been told) but hey I like it.

Why I started my blog?

It all started with YouTube. I have a thing for make-up and hair. Very good at both, so why not learn from the best? These ladies are absolutely PROS (in my book) when it comes to beating their face. PUKSIES WARDROBE was my absolute VERY first person I ever watched. She knows how to do make-up, braid hair, and dress (style herself).

Actually I've been following a few bloggers (Puksies Wardrobe, Naturally Fashionable, Girlwithcurves, Pockets and Bows & Tredayy_) for awhile now, and they are just so damn BOMB. I love EVERYTHING they wear and I just can't help but to think these are regular people and look how they inspire others to go out and buy stuff and do things they weren't comfortable doing before. I LOVE them, their style and let's not talk about makeup tutorials.

Recently I found NEW bloggers (makeup-Beauteoflife/ IrisBeilin and fashion- Itsmytaste) that I absolutely adore. These women are so freaking cute and I know they probably think I'm crazy with my likes, but I actually like everything they post.

My blog is like my journal. From time to time I will post pictures of my outfits (when I go somewhere), but manly I want to express what's going on with current events and just girl talk. WE need more of that

Now, let's talk about ME (insert happy face)

If I could wear a v-neck shirt, long skirt, a jean jacket and sparkly loafers everyday I would. Hehe.....yes that's me. Real simple. People ALWAYS think I'm an Jehovah Witness because they never really see me in pants, but I'm here to tell you I DO WEAR THEM. NO I don't like them.

1. They make me feel unconformable in weird areas.
2. I don't like the way I look in them.

Geez, enough already right??

Stay tuned for Part II

Peace out,
Brittany Gabriel

What's been up?

Hello easies......

I know, I know; I've been away for awhile. So can I start off with a rant?

Well I have no idea what's going on, actually I do but it's a maze. I have no desire to do my hair, put on make-up, or even dress up (that's why I haven't posted any pics).

It's soooooooo HOT and HUMID in New Orleans, I just can't take it. Ugh!

Born and raised here, I'm used to it, but not my hair. Every summer I do a cut because my roller wraps (hehe...yes I said it) never last. I was getting to the point I had to roll my hair every two days....NO MA'AM!! Aggravated with that situation I did box braids twice this summer. Whew....yes I did my own and lets just say, my arm is still damaged.

After taking those out, I got really annoyed because I felt that my hair wasn't doing the do (looking good), so I went to Super Cuts and cut it into a inverted bob. That wasn't good enough for me..lol

About two months later, I decided to finally color my hair (the nasty brown HAD to go). So yeah I'm satisfied (for right now).

Baby I've been getting compliments galore :-)

Until next time, peach out

Whoaaaaaa MAMA!

Oh boy! When I tell you I screamed so LOUD (inside) while standing at my desk today.

MAN for 2 years I've been waiting for this, wondering 2 things:

1. When will H&M allow you to purchase items online?
2. When will they build one in Louisiana, more so New Orleans?

Baby I got them both! Well not really; H&M the store is still in the works :-( I'm assuming by November we should be up and running! Every year I travel to ATL for the Atlanta vs. Saints football game, and the first place I go?? H&M. Gets the goodies ya'll.

It's a bitter sweet feeling about one coming to New Orleans; I likes to have nice stuff that's NOT available at FOREVER21. Know what I'm saying???

Until next time, peace out

Missing in action??

Hey easies (waving hard)

Sorry I've been neglecting my blog, but I'll soon get back to it. Today was my first day back from my 1 week/ 1 day stay-cation. Basically all I did was stay in the bed and eat, eat, oh did I mention I ate?!

Literally! I took an emergency vacation because I was at a point where I didn't know what was next. My mind moved at a fast pace for about 5 days and I was so drained, I had no more energy to fight (strength to get up and go to work).

Although, 1 week was not enough for me, it was good enough for the reason in which caused the "emergency vacation".

Not sure why my day was so annoying but I made it the entire 8 hours
Blah.....

Until next time, peace out

City Tour

Hey easies.....yesterday was a fun filled day for me. Starting at the beginning, lunch at Drago's Seafood restaurant. Oweeeeeman those char-broiled oysters hit the spot. Yummy to my tummy!
After lunch, we headed out to board the streetcar. Now I haven't road one of these things since 6th grade (way back in the day), so I was super duper excited.

After riding the streetcar down to Jackson Square, we got on the tour bus!

OMG I've been on a city tour in New Orleans before and NEVER in my life have I been this BORED! Geeezzzz I wanted to pull my hair out.
Oh well, couple of things I saw along the way.

So happy the tour was only 2-hours! Cracked jokes the entire time, oh and snapped a couple of pics.
